Luggage Allowance Guide
Estimate free luggage allowance by travel class and passenger count.
Luggage Allowance Guide: how to use the result
Choose the ticketed class
Select the travel class and enter adults separately from children aged 5 to under 12. The calculator uses the class allowance for each adult and half that allowance for each child in this age group. Mixed classes and unusual items need separate checking; the estimate is not permission to carry every bag in the compartment.
Weight is only one check
Weigh bags before travel and consider their dimensions and contents. Being under a weight allowance does not make a prohibited or oversized item acceptable. Keep access routes clear and ask the railway luggage office about items needing booking.
If you exceed the allowance
Check the official luggage rules and booking process before arriving at the platform. Do not treat the calculator’s total as a permission slip or an excess-luggage price quote. Keep any luggage booking receipt with your travel documents.
