Railway Status-Code Decoder: how to use the result
Enter the status label
Use the letters shown in the result, such as CNF, RAC or GNWL. If the ticket says GNWL/18, select GNWL here; keep the number for comparing your own booking and current positions. The decoder explains a label, not the probability of confirmation.
Separate status, class and coach
CNF is a reservation status; 3A is a travel class; B2 can be a coach label. They answer different questions. Read the passenger row as a whole instead of treating every short code as a waiting-list category.
When a code is not supported
Use the official enquiry legend or ask the booking service. Do not shorten an unfamiliar code until it resembles a known one. To report a missing explanation, send the code and page name without your PNR or passenger details.
