01

Before booking

Compare stations, dates and classes before treating one train as your only option. The booking guide explains how to prepare a usable alternative and verify the issued ticket after payment.

02

After receiving a ticket

Read booking status and current status for every passenger. The PNR guide uses illustrative examples to explain missing allocations and why a waiting number is not a berth.

Railway reading: choose a guide for your journey: how to use the result

Start with the question you have now

If you already have a ticket, start with how to read a PNR result. If you have not booked, start with advance reservation planning. For a busy holiday journey or a family trip, use the dedicated planning guides linked below rather than a generic checklist.

Use the guide with its matching tool

The explanation helps you choose inputs and interpret the result; the tool performs the enquiry or calculation. Keep that distinction when a provider is unavailable. Reading a guide is still useful, but it does not establish a live train or ticket status.

Examples are illustrative. If you find an error, send the page address and a source for the correction. Corrections process
