HWH and SDAH are separate stations
HWH identifies Howrah and SDAH identifies Sealdah. “Kolkata” in a general travel search is not enough to choose between them. Confirm the booked departure or arrival station before arranging a hotel, onward ticket or pickup. Do not replace the railway code with a city nickname in your instructions.
Before booking: compare useful departures
Search the exact station pair and travel date, then compare arrival time and onward transport. A train that serves one terminal is not necessarily an option from the other. Check its scheduled stops by number. If staying in the Kolkata area, consider the full station-to-accommodation route instead of selecting only by the city shown in a search result.
A Howrah–Sealdah connection needs its own plan
Treat this as a station-to-station transfer, not a platform change. Check the current available road or public-transport route, including the walk at each end and service hours. Allow for traffic, queues and luggage. A map’s fastest journey is a planning input, not a safe minimum connection time or a railway guarantee.
If the incoming train is delayed
Reassess the onward connection before arrival. Keep both ticket records and check whether an alternative departure is workable. Do not assume separate bookings carry automatic connection protection. If the connection is missed, ask the official service about the relevant claim or rebooking route rather than selecting an unrelated refund reason.
Pickup instructions that are easy to follow
Share the station code, train number and your confirmed exit or meeting point. Ask the person collecting you to check the same station name before starting. Keep the ticket itself private and send updates if arrival time changes. With children or older relatives, agree where everyone will wait if the group becomes separated.
