Same city does not mean the same station

NDLS and NZM are different stations. Match the station codes on both tickets and allow for exiting, local transport and boarding, as well as luggage and your group’s needs.

01

Four codes to distinguish

NDLS is New Delhi, DLI is Delhi Junction (commonly called Old Delhi), NZM is Hazrat Nizamuddin and ANVT is Anand Vihar Terminal. These are separate railway stations. A journey advertised simply as “Delhi” may use any relevant terminal, so the ticket’s boarding point is the starting point for planning.

02

Search before booking, match after booking

Before purchasing, compare trains from the terminals you can reasonably reach. After purchase, follow the booked station instead of choosing whichever is nearer your hotel. Changing a city-level search does not modify a reservation. Use the train number to inspect its stops and the official process if a boarding change is needed.

03

Do not confuse railway and Metro names

When using a map or Metro planner, verify whether the destination is the railway terminal, a Metro station or another nearby place. Keep the railway code in your cab instructions. For NDLS specifically, decide which entrance side fits your route; the separate New Delhi entrance guide explains that smaller decision.

04

Build the connection from both ticket records

For a connection from one Delhi terminal to another, list arrival station, onward departure station, dates and scheduled times separately. Include exit, transport, security and coach-finding time. Check current road or Metro conditions rather than using a fixed transfer time from an old article. Leave room for a late inbound train.

05

Final message to your travel group

Share one agreed station code, train number and meeting point. Check date changes for departures after midnight. If a companion is already at another terminal, stop and re-plan rather than asking them to rush without a route. Keep full PNRs and identity documents out of group messages that include strangers.
